Town of Port Hawkesbury Plan Area

Notice of Public Hearing

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE THAT Council of the Town of Port Hawkesbury is considering amending the Municipal Planning Strategy and Land Use By-law as follows:

  1. By introducing a ‘Downtown’ Designation in the Municipal Planning Strategy;
  2. By introducing a ‘Commercial Main Street (C5)’ Zone in the Land Use By-law;
  3. By re-designating and concurrently rezoning all ‘Commercial Highway (C3)’ zoned properties in the central Reeves Street area of the Town to the new designation and zone.

Main features of the new zoning will be provisions allowing mixed-use commercial and residential developments, relaxation of parking requirements and introduction of new design rules including the appearance, siting and massing of buildings.

Copies of the Staff Report providing more detailed information on these amendments can be inspected at the office of the Eastern District Planning Commission, 32 Paint Street, Unit 4, Port Hawkesbury on business days between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., or at www.edpc.ca.

Any written or oral presentations on the matter can be made before Council at the Public Hearing to be held:

Thursday, June 28th at 1:00 p.m. in Shannon Studio, Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre (606 Reeves Street).

PLEASE ALSO NOTE that the Public Hearing will be followed by a Special Public Meeting of Council at 1:30pm on the same day.
